Touring with Scissors concert
reviews!
October 4, 2000 University of Florida
I saw Al at University of Florida, October 4, 2000 and it was really cool. I loved the
concert, and it solidified my crush on AL, thereby giving me status as a bona fide freak.
All I have to say is it was pretty much the same as everyone else describes it. I will,
however add that I didn't like the song Germs until I saw AL perform it live. I will also
add that now, whenever I hear the intro for The night santa went crazy, I remember the
cheers and get chills.. I got totally jealous of the lucky recipient of AL's boxers in One
More Minute...I rrrreeeeaaallllyyyy wanted to buy a T-shirt, but didn't get to ....I
didn't get any photos, any autographs....but man, that guy has a big head. Thank you very
much.....

Another review by "Crazy Zak":
July 24, 2000 Orange County Fair (1st show)
Well, Al and the band mixed things up at this concert. Al was the only one who changed
costumes throughout the show, and the clips werent shown for Jurassic
Park and I Lost On Jeopardy. But still, it was a great show! And what
was great about it, a few hours before the show, when my mom and I were standing in line,
we saw the band doing a sound check! We heard the beginning for Eat It, heard
the band play One More Minute, and heard Bermuda sing Gump!
Al started the show with Gump and Polka Power!, followed by
My Babys In Love With Eddie Vedder. Al then screamed, DRUM
SOLO!! and ran off stage. Bermuda did a drum solo, and asked, You want
more? Of course everyone cheered. Alright, heres a drum solo
encore! He played another drum solo. Then, Heres a drum solo Encore,
part 2! And did another drum solo! Al then came out and performed Its
All About The Pentiums. Als bodyguard came out and took Als jacket,
necklace, and hair band, and gave him his One More Minute jacket. Al was
trying to tell us about how he felt doing hometown concerts, but Ruben was messing around
on the keyboards again. Jim tried to tell Ruben to stop, but he didnt listen. Al
turned and shot Ruben. The song played normally, until the very end. It went like this,
Wi... BANG! Wi... BANG! Wit... BANG BANG! With
you.
He then played the entire medley, and then screamed, BASS SOLO!! Steve walked
up, and played his solo. He walked back to his spot, looked backstage, walked back up to
the mike, put the bass behind his head, and played. Ruben then cheered for another one.
Once again, Steve walked up to the mike. This time, he put the bass up to his mouth, and
played with his teeth. Al then came back out dressed in Amish clothing for Amish
Paradise. He once again went offstage. Bermuda then said, Ladies and
gentlemen, give it up for the hardest working man in showbiz. Let hear you say
Yes! Let me hear you say, No! Let me hear you say
Maybe! Let me hear you say, Woof woof woof woof! Give it up for
The Iron Giant, The Talented Mr. Ripley, The Queen of
England, the Grand Poohbah.... And said stuff like that for about
five minutes. Al then came out and performed Fat.
Al and the band came back out for the encore dressed up like Jedi and performed The
Saga Begins and Yoda.

Dont know, I didnt go to it, but I have a hunch he did the entire thing for
the second show.

June 4, 2000: Brea, CA
Okay, after parking about a half mile away from the Summerfest, me, my sister and my mom
walked to the Summerfest where I got the "Touring With Scissors" shirt. I then
looked for my friend. When I found him, we got some and the concert began!
Fun Zone started to play, followed by The Weird Al Show Theme Song, followed by the band
coming out one by one. They started playing "Gump" and Al came out! He did
"Gump", followed by "Polka Power!". Bermuda then proceeded with his
drum solo. They then played "Jerry Springer", "My Baby's In Love With Eddie
Vedder", and "The Night Santa Went Crazy" (Extra gory edition!) They then
went off stage and came back in the infamous yellow radiaton suits for "Dare To Be
Stupid"! "It's All About The Pentiums" was next, and Al was on his knees
for "Germs". When "One More Minute" began, Al was telling us about how
he grew up not too far away from Brea. But, Ruben was having a good time messing around on
the keyboard. Al slowly turned around, pulled out a gun, and shot Ruben! He turned around
again, but quickly spun around and shot Ruben again as he was trying to get up. Al then
went into the audiance and gave out his scarves and underwear. When the song finished, he
spun around again and shot Ruben some more! "Like A Surgeon" began with Ruben
walking out onstage wearing the cone bra! It finished with Al almost cutting Ruben to
pieces!
For the medley, Al played "Money For Nothing/Beverly Hillbillies", "Fast
Food", "Addicted To Spuds", "Free Delivery", "Laundry
Day", "Pretty Fly For A Rabbi", "Another One Rides The Bus",
"I Love Rocky Road", "Achy Breaky Song", "Jurassic Park",
"Grapefruit Diet", "I Lost On Jeopardy", and "Eat It".
Next up was "Smells Like Nirvana", in which the band once again changed
costumes. After that, Al came back out in the clown suit and started "Bedrock
Anthem". The band came back out in simple clothes and beards and did "Amish
Paradise". Al then came out and did "Fat".
Al came back out and did "The Saga Begins" and "Yoda" after a five
minute intermission.
After the show, I met up with "Bermuda" and guess what? I told him I was
"Crazy Zak", and he said, "Zach Whitlow?" WOW!! He knew my first and
last name!
Well, I guess what I'm trying to say is, THE CONCERT WAS COOL!! IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN TO ONE
YET, GO!!

July 9 and 10: Hershey, PA
I drove out from Pittsburgh to catch the shows, and the crowds were large. I managed to
catch one on each day (there were two each day), but my seats were awesome! How close? The
second day, I was so close, I was hit by the
extra water after the gargle solo in "Smells Like Nirvana". Al started the
concert with "Gump", "Polka Power", a Bermuda drum solo during the
break, "Jerry Springer", and, with only 5 1/2 months till Christmas, an extra
gory version of "The Night Santa Went Crazy" (Yes, Virginia, now Santa Claus is
dead/Some guys from the SWAT team put a hole through his head/Hey, little friend there,
now his brains are on the floor/At least they won't have the fat guy to kick around
anymore!). Then he did the classics complete with cool costume changes, "It's All
About The Pentiums", "Smells Like Nirvana", "Amish Paradise" (a
crowd favorite, being so close to Lancaster), and "Fat". He came back for the
encore, and did "The Saga Begins" and "Yoda". After he made the crowd
sing the chorus of Yoda, Al and the band did some weird
sketch before the end that was really funny. There was a lot of cool video clips during
costume changes, too. The shows were incredible! The English language doesn't have enough
adjectives to fully describe the experience of seeing Al in concert, so I suggest
you go see him as soon as you can! It ruled! I give it 27 thumbs up!

May 12, 2000: Asbury Park, NJ
The Weird Al "Touring w/
Scissors" concert that I went to on May 12th in Asbury Park, NJ was the most awesome
concert I've ever been to in my life!! It was so full of energy and Al is a great
performer. There were costume changes, cool lighting, really funny clips from different
"AL-TV" episodes during the costume changes, and a lot more. He even sang some
concert-only songs like a parody of "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion just to
name one. The band members are great, too. Ruben Valtierra (keyboards) was the funniest.
The atmosphere is great, so the concert is definitely one you can bring your kids to. I'm
sure they'll laugh a lot, too! Well, to make a long story short, the Weird Al concert was
really worth going to (even my mom enjoyed it!! She's not really much of a Weird Al fan).
You HAVE to get to one!
P.S. Check out the Official Weird Al Site (www.weirdal.com) for tour dates!

Mayor!)
